Contrary to popular belief, it never did. I just stopped putting the posts on Facebook. Amid all the criticism such as:

No one will read it.

People only check Facebook, they will only read it if you tag them.

It's partially true. I mean, my main demographic I was targeted was predominately idiotic teens that were in the false belief that Facebook was the only website in existence. Now, I'm not saying you yourself are one of those unintelligent, Facebook-aholics, but I am saying that Facebook did in fact intoxicate you.

We'll save that for another rant about Facebook one of these days.

To veer back on topic, it was nearly a year ago when Tyler Talk went from Facebook-only, to Facebook and WordPress, to WordPress only. Subsequent events included going to Blogger and now Tumblr. Sadly, Tumblr's no longer hip (in my evident quest to be as indie as possible, soccer for starters).

Anyways. the point of this whole section is simple. There have been nearly hundreds of Tyler Talk blog posts. Actual blog posts. Kind of like to differentiate Facebook notes and blog posts. For starters, one will actually read a Facebook note throughly. One will skim a blog, unless there's a video...then they'll watch it. Unless it's a vlog. Don't count on viewers watching more than 25 seconds. Unless of course, you're Julian Rosen...where you can capture the attention of viewers for 20 minutes. That, my friend, is a skill I'll never be able to accomplish, unless it's with sheer aggression. I'm not exactly the aggressive type when it comes to non-soccer-related topics.

Song Listening to When Starting Blog: Computer's on mute, should turn off my Scrobbler.
Mood: That post-Holiday groggy mood, or cause it's 1 a.m.
Blog Number: I don't keep track anymore.

Remember when I used to do those practically-ancient Tyler Talk blog posts? It was splendid times, times where I had oodles of time lying around to slap together very well-structured Facebook notes that were...for whatever reason (I still wonder) received attention.

Perhaps it was because I tagged literally dozens of people.

Actually, that's most likely why.

And, as you could imagine, I was scrolling through some "archived" Tyler Talk's, and I had that incredibly deep thought to myself that magnificent question: "why not do another one?! Just for the sake of it!"

Here we are, another Facebook note, another little 'blog post' as you may, so lets see where it goes.

Tyler Talk Never Really Died...

This is not a gimmick to get people to read the Blogger and Tumblr posts. Those blog posts are extremely short and are not along the style of what Tyler Talk was.

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

I pray you all pick up on the satire there, because if you don't, it makes me look like a narcissistic asshole, and I'm rather self-conscience to make sure none of you ever have that impression on me.

You have heard every amount of praise Kanye's latest album has received, and righteously deserved, yet lets stop talking about how spectacular, how iconic this gem of the 21st century is.

Lets focus on what's most important: how it affected me.

In a nutshell, the album really got me into rap music.

If you care to read more, I'll further detail it. If you've had enough, there's a lovely rant about me chewing out the American sports structure. That ought to dazzle you.

American sports suck...their format, at least

Before I get into explaining why the format of the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL (since I like soccer, I will include MLS) suck, lets take a moment to think about everyone's favorite debate topic: politics.

Since we're somewhat of a southern state, there's many right-wing thinkers that are reading this. You all loathe communism. Who doesn't? It's the dead-end to society, right?! Capitalism is the only true way to conduct things, and it's AMURICAN! Yes, it is though. Very Amurican.

Yet...our sports leagues, a pastime of the United States, is the most communist structure in the sporting world...literally the whole. Sporting. World.

How is it, you might ask? Well, first and foremost, the big five sports leagues in the United States operate on a closed-entity franchise structure. The leagues are plagued with parity, salary caps, allocation money, draft picks, rewards for doing bad, and most noticeably?! The same. Fucking. Teams. Year. After. Year. After. Year.

After year...

After year...

There's no freedom nor capitalism in the sports world in America. The league rules over its clubs with an iron fist. It calls its clubs "franchises" and the local cities "markets". They limit how much money each club can spend, a make sure every club has a fair chance in making a run to the playoffs (bleh!).

Okay sure, in most of the leagues, there are dominate teams, but yet...there are very weak clubs. But the thing is...every season after season, they are still in the same league. They are never relegated.

What's relegation?

It's simply when you move the crappy teams down to a lower tier, and move the stronger teams from the lower tier up.

I'm lost Tyler.

Think baseball. The Orioles, the Marines, Nationals and Pirates all suck...really, really, bad.

Yet, the still play MLB baseball every single season.

Imagine though, instead of getting that nice first draft pick...they go down to AAA, likewise the best AAA baseball clubs come up to MLB!

There you have it! Promotion and relegation. Replacing the worst teams with the best of a lower division each and every season. It's something that is done in literally every nation in the World except the United States. Even in those evil communist nations of Russia and China!

For a nation that sure loves capitalism as much as it loves gasoline...we have quite a communist sports system, that causes boring games with no truly superb team, and a bunch of mediocre teams that win by sheer luck...not skill.

And on to the playoffs

If the closed-franchise system wasn't bad enough, the playoffs are worse. I don't see how you can determine who the league champion is by determining how one team does in a short post-season tournament spanning a month, as opposed to awarding the champion to the team that works their ass off and is consistent for nearly five to six months.

God forbid that team earns the league title. But, in my humble opinion, the true league champion of the NFL, NBA, etc. is not the team that walks away with the Super Bowl, or the Stanley Cup. Not at all.

It's the team that has the best regular season record. The President's Trophy, the Supporters' Shield. That's your true champion, the one who played their best for months, not that lucky team that had a hot streak. The playoffs erase league credibility and make any team have the false impression they can be a champion.

And again, nearly every sporting league in the World except the U.S. does not have playoffs, and crows the team with the best regular season record their league champion.

Back to the communism talk...giving every team a chance for that championship title....doesn't seem AMURICAN....

As we all know, or should know, predicting Major League Soccer's outcome is essentially picking March Madness. You're better off drawing names out of a hat or having someone pick the results that is unknowing of the league's existence.

Looking at my predictions, they actually were not too bad; perhaps they were mediocre. I predicted the Western Conference correctly, for the most part (if you count my predictions for the playoffs).

Eastern Conference? Different story. Completely different story. Don't underestimate Hans Backe's ability to overhaul a club, that's a fact. So without further due, let's get into the results vs. predictions.

Ever since FIFA award Qatar the right to host the 2022 World Cup, the nation has made the inevitable leap from grief to pointing the finger and creating USSF guilt by association.

Soccer purists have seen this as a golden opportunity to–once again–point out the flaws of Major League Soccer, claiming it could have hurt even ruined the United States' chance to bring the World Cup back across the Atlantic.

Breaking it down, the only eminent flaws with American soccer (that FIFA has pointed out) have been the ways MLS is structured and how it consistently refuses to abide to FIFA's guidelines.

Did MLS hurt the U.S.A.'s chance of hosting the 2022 World Cup?

Although 21,700 was the reported sellout crowd number at Toronto's BMO Field, there were pockets of red all throughout the stadium.

Yesterday afternoon, Goal.com reported that the recent Television ratings for the MLS Cup final were lower–much lower–than the previous year. Actually, they were the lowest ratings in over a decade. The 2010 MLS Cup drew a nation-wide audience of about 1.1 million viewers, resulting in a 0.5 TV-rating, down from last year's 0.9.
We can look at these depressing statistics and presume that's the result of rather unpopular teams playing in the final, it was prime-time on a Sunday, the American Music Awards were on, and there was an National (American) Football League match-up between Philadelphia and New York.
However, Major League Soccer cannot use these excuses for their cup final; the match that's suppose to the flagship of the league, to show the league's best drew weaker ratings than regular season matches. MLS needs to accept the unfortunate realities of the American mainstream.

It will help Jordan Frasier on his project with the Seattle Times.

Probably, (and inevitably) the second one.

To get to the point of this blog post, I'm doing a special blog series to share my "admissions stories" of funny and bizarre things that occur during the admissions process. Either way, it's bound to be interesting to see where these blogs take me from now until February; when the series is over.

The curious kid I am, I'm still wondering how on earth this guy found me. I have my theories.

Perhaps to get on his good side, and to help him out with his blog, here's a link to his blog. And his Twitter. Tweet him stuff, why not, talk to him about Mason if you're applying. He'll be happy you did.

Robb Heinemann, the Kansas City Wizards President, made an announcement last night about the incoming changes for the club, and how he wants to construct a world-class club that their fans can be proud of.

This "club" however, will no longer be regarded as the Wizards. Instead, they will known as Sporting Kansas City. Presumably a solute to Portugal's Sporting Lisbon.

Throughout the latter half of the Major League Soccer season, the Kansas City Wizards kept hinting a change in the club's appearance to come in 2011.

Walking outside by the clocktower after school, I looked at one of the nearby brick benches; there sat the senior men's drill team. It wasn't a drill team full of spirit, innuendos or bringing light into a rather cold, hostile, environment of the haughty and egocentric (known as high school)...nope. Not at all.

It was a collective expression of long faces: dejection, frustration, aggravation, etc. could be only a handful of the adjectives to describe it. If the Homecoming spirits had not already been sunk due to ACT's, fire hazard locker bay decorations, or a couple painfully unfunny Pep-Rally events attempting to be hysterical, it had to have been this. It's the reason why people are dubbing this Homecoming as "the worst Pep-Rally [and or] Homecoming ever."

This is the second part of the whole "Landon Donovan vs. Steve Nash" series that EA Sports is doing. Nash is calling Donovan to schedule a time, and Donovan's being mock-interviewed on his opinions of Nash. "Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight" – Alexandra Fuller

So far, in Alexandra Fuller's "Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight", we're introduced to a family who has immigrated to Rhodesia (present-day Zimbabwe) from Great Britain. The family describes the environment as intense and brutal. In spite of such hardships, the family moves here from Britain to escape, a working-class world. As described in the story, in England, there are no opportune chances to rise up the caste system and through higher social ranks. They believe moving to the African colonies would provide a greater chance for social economic hope and prosperity.

Once a technology-trend hits the front page of a newspaper; the, so-called, "trend" is simply commonplace. The newspaper company is trying to go assimilate into the zeitgeist of the 21st century. Ultimately they are months, in many cases, years too late.

Take the lovely Washington Post. I suppose they need a laughable article to cope with their tacky front-page layout. But of course, the article needed to be about teen life and that, pathetic attempts to try to show how horrid and intoxicating technology is on this young generation and how every damn moment must be spent reading a book or living life as if it was the heydays of grunge.

The story is about a new, "hip", and "modern trend" in terms of grounding teenagers for when they do idiotic teen activities, or as they call it: having fun and chilling. Facebook, texting, not Twitter and PlayStation 3/XBOX 360 have long been the culprits of teens being punished for poor grades, bad behavior, and so on and so forth.

WaPost states obvious (yet again) regarding tech and teen life

Major League Soccer did a special little "behind the scenes" type of video, similar to the ones that USSoccer.com does. Wasn't so fond of the music, then again, no one was I would imagine, but they nabbed a few good angles along the pitch to offer a more introspective version of player's emotions.

Highlights: RSL vs. Cruz Azul

What a spectacular time of the year it is. For (myself) the thirteenth time of the "First Day of School", and all that reuniting of seeing your friends, and catching up, and well that's all dead thanks to Facebook and its fellow contemporaries.

Speaking of which, thanks to these wonderful pieces of tech

It's been an insane–even outrageously bizarre array of matches to open up the first two games of the CONCACAF Champions League. From the RSL v. Cruz Azul thriller that caught the eye of the mainstream media, to the expected wins for Mexican teams, both unsurprising blow outs and home and away....as well as a couple of last second saviors at home.

Although the Power Rankings can be meaningless, I guess it's a way to keep track of how good the teams in the CCL are performing. At least it is for me. So, lets go:

For Facebook, it has practically created its own subpar spoof of every possible online application that emphasizes in a certain category. Facebook's "Photo" app vs. Flickr and Photobucket. Its "Events" app vs. E-vite and iCal. The "Notes" app vs. Blogger and WordPress. The most recent collection would have to be Facebook Places that might kill off Foursquare, as Mashable reports.

However, there has been one evident thing that Facebook has never been able to win over, primarily because its buggy interface. As if it wasn't evident enough, that would have to be Facebook Chat, the sites instant-messaging service for the past two years.

Earlier this week, I told the two of you about how Graham Rockwood and Stephen Goodrick would be engaging in political arguments about how the nation should be reformed for the better. They've only wall posted each other on Facebook. They've yet to truly debate.

Let's be real: The answer to everything is three words: high speed rail. Oh, and 42. Not to mention soccer and grungy music. How could I forget?

Monday Morning: Wait for debate, grunge, soccer, Favre, the normal. Except for Favre.

Chad Marshall of Columbus Crew holding off Guillermo Ramírez on CSD Municipal. Columbus would go on to defeat Municipal 1-0 thanks to a 14th minute goal from Emmanuel Ekpo.
Forget the lone Major League Soccer regular season match that took place yesterday evening, last night was all about Columbus Crew and Real Salt Lake opening their Group Stage campaign in the 2010-11 edition of the CONCACAF Champions League. Both Columbus and RSL emerged victorious to kick off the series.

Sure each victory might have been by one lone goal, but watching the games, you could see the dominance and class that both Columbus and RSL exhibited over Municipal and Arabe Unido, respectively. It can partially be noticed through the highlight reels for each game. (See at bottom).

Observing both games live on TV last night, they each established a solid passing game that only their opponents couldn't seem to combat against, unless it was a myriad of shameless fouls and tackles. And yet in spite of this, they couldn't emerge victorious.

Meet Graham: seems like a solid leader.

The additions of Najar and Hamid have been extremely beneficial for the
ailing D.C. United, will Shanosky be next?

By now, there's practically nothing to smile about regarding the D.C. United's horrendous year. Sure there's a handful of meaningless friendlies they won, as well as a couple of U.S. Open Cup matches that they were expected to win.

Apart from those exceptions, the only bright spots have come from the United's youth players, primarily the Academy Players. These include the likes of Andy Najar and Bill Hamid, the first two academy players that signed contracts with the club.

With Group B play of the CONCACAF Champions League on the horizon, it looks like it'll be a brisk competition for the Group title for Santos or Columbus...unless of course Municipal or Joe Public can pull off a few upsets.

Columbus Crew

Current Record: (11-5-4), 3rd place in MLS.

How they got here: 2009 MLS Supporter's Shield.

Key Player: Guillermo Barros Schelotto

The Crew have a lot of hope to go far in this upcoming Champions League campaign. Exiting in the quarterfinals subsequent to a 5-4 aggregate loss against Toluca, Columbus was the last hope for any MLS club to seek Champions League glory.

A gritty team that has a solid passing game, the Crew are a potent force to win the group and possibly make a run deep into the knockout stages. But to do so they're going to need to perform well on the road and have solid performances from Barros Schelotto, Lenhart, Marshall and Hejduk.

Prediction: 2nd. I had a bad feeling about Santos at first given their 3-2 home loss to D.C. United a few months back, but they'll have an advantage over Columbus. The Crew will be worn out from U.S. Open Cup, late season play-off push and the MLS Cup Playoffs around the corner. It'll get messy with their schedule. Still, they should be able to comfortably margin in second.
