It's been an insane–even outrageously bizarre array of matches to open up the first two games of the CONCACAF Champions League. From the RSL v. Cruz Azul thriller that caught the eye of the mainstream media, to the expected wins for Mexican teams, both unsurprising blow outs and home and away....as well as a couple of last second saviors at home.

Although the Power Rankings can be meaningless, I guess it's a way to keep track of how good the teams in the CCL are performing. At least it is for me. So, lets go:

For Facebook, it has practically created its own subpar spoof of every possible online application that emphasizes in a certain category. Facebook's "Photo" app vs. Flickr and Photobucket. Its "Events" app vs. E-vite and iCal. The "Notes" app vs. Blogger and WordPress. The most recent collection would have to be Facebook Places that might kill off Foursquare, as Mashable reports.

However, there has been one evident thing that Facebook has never been able to win over, primarily because its buggy interface. As if it wasn't evident enough, that would have to be Facebook Chat, the sites instant-messaging service for the past two years.

Earlier this week, I told the two of you about how Graham Rockwood and Stephen Goodrick would be engaging in political arguments about how the nation should be reformed for the better. They've only wall posted each other on Facebook. They've yet to truly debate.

Let's be real: The answer to everything is three words: high speed rail. Oh, and 42. Not to mention soccer and grungy music. How could I forget?

Monday Morning: Wait for debate, grunge, soccer, Favre, the normal. Except for Favre.

Chad Marshall of Columbus Crew holding off Guillermo Ramírez on CSD Municipal. Columbus would go on to defeat Municipal 1-0 thanks to a 14th minute goal from Emmanuel Ekpo.
Forget the lone Major League Soccer regular season match that took place yesterday evening, last night was all about Columbus Crew and Real Salt Lake opening their Group Stage campaign in the 2010-11 edition of the CONCACAF Champions League. Both Columbus and RSL emerged victorious to kick off the series.

Sure each victory might have been by one lone goal, but watching the games, you could see the dominance and class that both Columbus and RSL exhibited over Municipal and Arabe Unido, respectively. It can partially be noticed through the highlight reels for each game. (See at bottom).

Observing both games live on TV last night, they each established a solid passing game that only their opponents couldn't seem to combat against, unless it was a myriad of shameless fouls and tackles. And yet in spite of this, they couldn't emerge victorious.

Word has been buzzing around about the latest round of political corruption debate. By word buzzing around, that means a trickle of Facebook status updates to be more earnest.

Before we get into the main topics that the two are going to debate over the course of the 2010-11 FCPS school year, lets get an impression of each person.

Meet Graham: seems like a solid leader.

Now, please be aware of the date that this blog was posted, so if there's any legitimate song that's decent in the near future, odds are it won't be on this list. So don't complain about a song that didn't exist at the time (or was being recorded in the studio).

The additions of Najar and Hamid have been extremely beneficial for the
ailing D.C. United, will Shanosky be next?

By now, there's practically nothing to smile about regarding the D.C. United's horrendous year. Sure there's a handful of meaningless friendlies they won, as well as a couple of U.S. Open Cup matches that they were expected to win.

Apart from those exceptions, the only bright spots have come from the United's youth players, primarily the Academy Players. These include the likes of Andy Najar and Bill Hamid, the first two academy players that signed contracts with the club.

With Group B play of the CONCACAF Champions League on the horizon, it looks like it'll be a brisk competition for the Group title for Santos or Columbus...unless of course Municipal or Joe Public can pull off a few upsets.

Columbus Crew

Current Record: (11-5-4), 3rd place in MLS.

How they got here: 2009 MLS Supporter's Shield.

Key Player: Guillermo Barros Schelotto

The Crew have a lot of hope to go far in this upcoming Champions League campaign. Exiting in the quarterfinals subsequent to a 5-4 aggregate loss against Toluca, Columbus was the last hope for any MLS club to seek Champions League glory.

A gritty team that has a solid passing game, the Crew are a potent force to win the group and possibly make a run deep into the knockout stages. But to do so they're going to need to perform well on the road and have solid performances from Barros Schelotto, Lenhart, Marshall and Hejduk.

Prediction: 2nd. I had a bad feeling about Santos at first given their 3-2 home loss to D.C. United a few months back, but they'll have an advantage over Columbus. The Crew will be worn out from U.S. Open Cup, late season play-off push and the MLS Cup Playoffs around the corner. It'll get messy with their schedule. Still, they should be able to comfortably margin in second.

A "parity league", "Minor League Soccer", or even a "footballing joke" are just a handful of the names that the international community, as well as the handful of hardcore American soccer fans label Major League Soccer.

For the past two or three years, Major League Soccer has tried every maneuver known to mankind, in an attempt to gain global recognition and be recognized as a noteworthy league. MLS has done this by straining its modest budget through importing aging stars. All in part to really bring attention to the globe that MLS is a serious league. The most notable addition is evidentially, Theirry Henry signing with New York Red Bulls last month. While it may look nice on paper for an MLS club to herald the arrival of a superstar, that specific club is going to need prove on the pitch that they're a top-class soccer club.

If the league, as well as its clubs, want to gain respect in the international world, they are going to need to excel, emphasize and take seriously in the CONCACAF Champions League, North America's top club competition.

The United States made their lackluster 2-0 defeat against Brazil quintessential for the times. My expectations were slightly higher, because Brazil was using primarily a "C"-squad, if you may, while the US fielded a mix of "A" and "B"-squad members. Though, when you put on a shirt, you're representing your nation at the highest level.
Brazil fielded practically new players that had never had a cap before, and a literally four or five World Cup veterans from South Africa. The US, on the other hand only gave one person their first full international cap, while fielding slightly over a dozen veterans from the World Cup.

Well, I made a Top 10 list a few months back, but since then, a lot of good music has come out, and well; simply put the list has changed significantly enough to release a new list. One group in the 2010-11 edition of the CONCACAF Champions League is set. The group includes favorites Real Salt Lake, of the USA; Cruz Azul of Mexico, Arabe Unido of Panama and Toronto FC of Canada.

How they got here

Real Salt Lake: Won the 2009 MLS Cup over heavy-favorites Los Angeles Galaxy in penalty kicks.

Arabe Unido: Champions of Panama's 2009 Apertura, as well as the 2010 Clasura.

Cruz Azul: As runner's up in Mexico's 2009 Apertura, Azul had to play Panama's San Francisco in the preliminary round, where Los Cementeros won 9-2 on aggregate.

Toronto FC: Won the 2010 Canadian Championship defeating Montreal Impact 2-1 in the finals. The Canadian giants played Honduras' Motagua in the preliminary round. The Reds were victorious 3-2 on aggregate.

We all have had the experience. Each of us throughout our time at Robinson made a new friend, became really close with them, separated and parted way. Some were friendly...others were a slow devouring of joy, that'd we love to forget as soon as we possibly could.

Coincidence that it happens more often than not during the summer. Well, actually, it could be. Fact of the matter is, is it's not too much. People travel, people work, people busy. Simple.

All's well, sometimes won't end well

Sadly, as we all wish did not happen...it did. Parity finally managed to creep through the likes of the Los Angeles Galaxy and the Columbus Crew. Has not hit Real Salt Lake though, perhaps D.C. United though is just that bad that RSL can completely dominate them. By the way, I'm sick of MLSSoccer.com describing the United as "hapless". Find a different word. You've used it at least a dozen times. Yes, it is unfortunate for them, but find creativity. And on to the power rankings we go, where nearly 7 teams have identical records. Only man could be happy about this...Don Garber.

1. REAL SALT LAKE (10-4-4)

Last Week: 2
Result: W 3-0 vs. D.C. United

If Robbie Findley was able to shoot on frame, and not by a bizarre luck of the crossbar, RSL would have easily walked away from Rio Tinto with a repeat blowout, like they did against New England a few weeks back.
