WC Notebook: Who is the USMNT?

I understand of the many of you that are actually looking forward to the World Cup, only a handful of you can name the schedule of the United States' World Cup games, and only a few of you can actually name a player on the team. Typically, it's only Landon Donovan. Honestly, that in no way surprises me. So this blog post is to help the few of you that read the Valor Dictus (most of you are probably reading this on Tyler Talk), an idea of what our squad is like.

Our team has 23 players. I'm not bothering naming them all. So click here to see the whole crew. I'm only highlighting the major ones.

Landon Donovan

Plays in Major League Soccer...that's our nation's top soccer league. On a team called the LA Galaxy...which play in Los Angeles, which in itself is a city in California (on the west coast). Makes good passes, wears the number ten, assists and scores on a regular basis. Perhaps the best American to ever play the game. No it's not you. Deal with it.

Clint Dempsey

Scrappy, intense player. Buzz cut. Number eight. Attacking midfielder...scores a lot. Goes nuts when he does. Plays in Europe...in the English Premier Leauge, with Fulham.

Dude can score:

Didn't convince you? Fine then...

Jozy Altidore

Young. Black. Soccer. Player. Strong. Fast. Future. Villareal. Spain. La Liga. Enough said.

Carlos Bocanegra

Your loving captain. Plays pro soccer in France.

Tim Howard

The Everton keeper. World Class goalie who thankfully is an American.

Johnathan Bornstien

The biggest disgrace to soccer as we know it. Below is the reason why:

Granted, he did do well in the USA v. Australia game:

Don't count on him starting. Plays for the other Los Angeles team in MLS, Chivas USA.
