WC Notebook: USA v Slovenia preview, day seven recap

This is actually a game more of a scare to the United States more than England. For months (the media) hyped up the USA v England game, and practically disregarded and legitimate threats from Slovenia and Algeria. Sure, the USA are the better team on paper, but that doesn't mean the USA will crank out an easy 3-0 victory over the, so-called minnows.

I'm expecting the United States to win, because after the way I saw the USA handle England and the solid mentality they've shown, the Stars and Stripes should be able to defeat the Slovenians, not with ease, but...defeat them. A victory would see them go into first place...probably tied with England.

What wouldn't shock me though? If the USA concedes an early goal to Slovenia, like they always do then dominate play and pry in enough goals to get the job done. That'd be nice (to win), but not in the "American" style for CONCACAF qualification.

Argentina 4, South Korea 1: Gonzalo Higuain scores a trio of goals (a hat trick, per say); while Chung Yong...own goal. La Albiceleste now sit pretty with two wins and no losses...and only have to play Greece. Perfect record for Argentina? I think yes.
Greece 2, Nigeria 1: Ethniki finally FINALLY did it. Well, they did manage to score their first ever World Cup goal. Yet, they win their first match! The Super Eagles had the lead, but because of a fruitless push from Sani Kaita, Nigeria had to play with ten men. Greeks rallied. 2-1 victory in their favor.
Mexico 2, France 0: This just simply proves my point that Les Blues...suck. No disrespect though to Mexico, El Tri put on quite a show and proved how talented they really are.
