Sad indeed, but Facebook remains the king of social networking. Though, I believe the site has become much weaker in its interface with mundane updates, fruitless pages, and completely and total unnecessary bitching, it's made something I once enjoyed, turned sour.  Though this is the third straight year it's been at number one, unfortunately I cannot see it being dethroned anytime soon.

5. Gmail & Google Buzz

All the neat, new gadgets that Google is creating is still a bit on the young side. Google's smart approach though to stay ahead of Facebook, Twitter and Yahoo in the Alexa Rankings.

4. Yahoo!

Last Year: 2
Founded: 1996

Yahoo! flips back and forth. But with an influx of interest in Yahoo! Answers, the site remains in the top five...for the time being.

3. Twitter

Though a vast amount of students hate Twitter's simplicity, and inability to like pages, it's not really any surprise to see Twitter so high up on this list. If it wasn't for Formspring, the site would easily be at number two. But this year many students created Twitter accounts, and the ones who created them last year...actually used them regularly now.

2. Formspring

This site hit the ground running, and has exploded in popularity since the Snowpacolypse. Mainly because people can ask others sexually explicit questions without being caught, and others can be attention whores. Worst combination ever. Terrible web site, yet so many mainstreams are addicted to its pure mediocrity.
