WC Notebook: Shocking day six

People have been requesting highlights of matches, to be embedded in the blog, so I did some research, and found some lovely highlights for you fellow blog-readers to devour your eyes to:

South Africa v. Mexico Highlights

England v. USA Highlights

Germany v. Australia Highlights

And now...time for the actual talk of sorrow and irony at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

First the sorrow: The Bafana Bafana—expectedly—lost...and lost hard to Uruguay 3-0. Uruguay's second goal came from a PK subsequent to an ejection of Khune (South Africa's keeper) in the 78th minute.

Now the irony, (at least on my take): I expected Spain to win the group with ease, and Switzerland to finish in last. And what do I get? Swiss going All-American on the Spaniards and winning the match 1-0 on a 54th minute goal. Switzerland is now tied for first in Group H. Spain? They're going to need to scrap out some wins (and shots on frame) against Chile and Honduras, former colonies of the nation.

Chile's victory over Honduras? No real shock there...expected. Chile wins 1-0. Match Highlights.
